Hello,
Recently, my colleague asked me to help him to open a SharePoint Task list with Microsoft Project Professional.
Every time he tried to open the list, he got this error:
Sorry, we couldn’t sync the tasks list to the SharePoint site. Please make sure:
- the SharePoint site is running and is not in read-only mode
- you have sufficient permission to sync this SharePoint site
- the tasks list is still available and its name hasn’t changed.
After he clicked on OK, he could see the tasks but it was not possible to save the editions.
He tried to verify the site assets permissions, because when you open the SharePoint list with Microsoft Project Professional a file (.mpp) is created inside the folder. In fact, this is not a problem with permissions or access.
To solve this problem, you just need to change the default account in your Microsoft Project Professional.
If you have lots of environments configured in your Microsoft Project Professional, and you use as default any environment that is not the Computer, you will receive this error.
To fix the problem, open your Microsoft Project Professional, open a blank project -> File -> Info -> Manage Accounts
set the Computer is a Default and set the option “Choose an account”
And done.
Now, every time you try to open a SharePoint task list using Microsoft Project Professional you won’t receive any errors.
See you!!!
Diego Pereira
Where can this be changed please?
